One Direction Gets the Comic Book Treatment Again!

Posted: 06 Mar 2013 01:14 PM PST

One Direction’s “Fame” comic book was so popular that they are getting a sequel!

The sequel to one of the most popular comic books in the “Fame” series is out TODAY and in this issue, the band’s rise to fame since they were formed is documented. "Fame: One Direction #2" is written by Michael Troy and art by Jill Lamarina. The new comic features two covers, one by Jill Lamarina and the other by David T. Cabera.

"One Direction is one of the hottest boy bands right now and it was a blast writing a comic book about them," said writer Michael Troy.

"The 1st issue was a huge success that we wanted to tell more of their stories," said publisher Darren G. Davis "Not only are these comic books fun, but they can be used as a tool for reluctant readers."

Also being re-released, "Fame: One Direction" #1 with a new homage cover to the classic comic book "Giant Sized X-men #1." This issue will be exclusively digital on ITunes as well as print.

The sci-fi show revolves around the romance that ignites between Emery, a human girl (Teegarden) and Roman (Lanter), an alien boy, when he and eight others of his kind (The Orion 9) are integrated into a suburban high school 10 years after they and hundreds of others landed on Earth and were immediately consigned to an internment camp where they've been imprisoned ever since.

Titus Makin Jr., Malese Jow and Grey Damon are also set to star in the pilot.

Selena Gomez Talks Love, ‘Spring Breakers’ and More in Harper’s Bazaar

Posted: 06 Mar 2013 10:56 AM PST

Selena Gomez is looking cute on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar!

The 20-year-old was photographed by fame photographer Terry Richardson and she shows off some beautiful fashion. In her interview, Selena opens up about love and trusting people as well as her racy new flick Spring Breakers.

On love: To me, love is normal. Of course, you see Jay and Beyoncé and you’re like, ‘Oh, my gosh, they’re perfect for each other,’ but at the end of the day their love is just like everybody else’s love. They have problems, I’m sure, and they solve them, like anybody else. So to make it as normal as possible—in such an abnormal lifestyle—was super important to both of us. Which was great …That’s how it should be.”

“I believe in love—yes, I’m one of those girls,” she says. “Most of my friends believe in love. I went out with Katy Perry last night. She’s so fun and awesome, but it’s cool to see someone older believe in love too. She is all about it, and that’s how I will always be. I believe in stories like, ‘Oh, I met him in Starbucks.’”

On dating: I’ve dated people that are not in the industry, and it does get really hard and stressful. My first boyfriend wasn’t, and it all sort of started happening, so—I felt bad.

On trusting people: It’s hard for me to tell myself to trust people and be open, because I don’t. That’s one of the negative things about this industry, that makes you very scared of everybody and their motives. It’s sad, but that’s how you have to protect yourself.

On her friends like Taylor Swift: It’s good to have both. It’s great to just pick up a phone and call Taylor and say, ‘I have people following me, and I’m having a bad day,’ but if I were to say that to someone else, it’s like, ‘Oh, boo hoo.’ But it’s nice to have people back home that grew up with me too.

On Spring Breakers: It’s fun to do something that’s not necessarily for my fans and Harmony really believed in me.

Ashley Benson Covers ‘Seventeen’ April Issue

Posted: 06 Mar 2013 10:31 AM PST

The “Pretty Little Liars” girls are all over the magazines this month! While Shay Mitchell covers Teen Vogue, Ashley Benson is taking over Seventeen!

Ashley is talking all about wanting to find a boyfriend for Shay, her movie Spring Breakers and more!

On Spring Breakers: Selena, Vanessa, and I all came from a Disney background, and [Spring Breakers] was different from anything we've done. But we wanted to prove that we're not just girls who play happy parts. It was such a crazy experience—I'm so proud of all of us. I'm really excited for everybody to see it.

On her Justin Bieber Parody with James Franco: I haven't heard from Selena [about the "Boyfriend" parody]! People thought that I was being mean, but I was just doing what the girl did in the video. It wasn't a jab at her. But I heard from Justin. He wasn't happy. Justin is like my little brother since he and my ex [Ryan Good] are so close. Anytime you go through a breakup, the friends get defensive. But all is well in that area now.

On finding a boyfriend for Shay Mitchell: One of my best friends is Shay Mitchell and she'll be like, 'I want a boyfriend!' She's been looking for three years…Every guy wants to date her, but she's like, 'No. No. No. No.’ I'm always on the lookout for Shay. Always. I'm always trying to get her a boyfriend!

On haters: I was in a bathing suit every single day [while filming Spring Breakers]. It definitely made me more confident. We had to do a bathing suit scene for PLL. The girls were like, 'Oh my god, I don't want to be in a bathing suit on screen!' and I was like, 'Whatever. Come on, throw it on me.' It is what it is! People will make mean comments. People are going to say that you're fat, that you're this, that you're that. You just have to be comfortable in your own skin.

On her dream career: I love Michelle Williams and Natalie Portman—those are the careers I want. My goal is to win an Oscar, and I'm going to take the steps to get there.

Machinima Open A Portal To A New Series

Posted: 06 Mar 2013 10:27 AM PST

Web-based mini-series are all the rage these days, as are YouTube-based parodies of video game worlds, and it appears as though Machinima, specialists in combining the two factors, are taking on an unofficial backstory to one of the finest pieces of dark comedy media ever produced.

portal_apatureThe two-game Portal series was a breakout hit with players for its innovative sci-fi gameplay and continuous in-game taunting from the villainous computer overlord ‘GLaDOS’ (‘the cake is a lie’), winning numerous awards and in its sequel boasted the voice acting of Stephen Merchant (The Office, The Ricky Gervais Show) as ‘Wheatley’.

While the plot of the games mainly focuses on the adventures of test subject ‘Chell’ with her physics-defying ‘portal gun’, the story does touch on a subplot that will be the focus of Machinima’s series, namely the history of the company behind the portal gun and testing facilities, Aperture Science.

The spinoff, entitled Apeture R&D, will be produced by Wayside Creations, and is described by Machinima as ‘The Office meets Aperture Labs’, with dark humor and game references expected in the backstory.

The project is claimed to be under the control of creators who are fans of the series, so will their care succeed in making the mini-series a hit? While the actual show does not begin online until 15 March, a teaser trailer has been revealed, containing companion cubes, mini-portals, and office humour as expected. It’s not like you have a chance to avoid it, so go ahead, watch it. For science.
